Rail Cargo Austria AG is driving forward the digitalization of the industry in Europe with the CARGO 1492 project and the MIKE logistics platform. The aim is to create a holistic and uncomplicated logistics solution from customers to the respective service providers. In this way, we are making an important contribution to the transport transition and to achieving climate goals.

For this purpose, the Cross Coordination Department at Rail Cargo Austria AG is looking for a Data Architect (m/w/x).

Your Job

  • Develop and maintain data architecture strategies and principles
  • Define and manage data domains and business objects, ensuring alignment with business goals and requirements
  • Implementation and further development of the RailCargo-wide technical data model (business object model) and the data map (applications and data processes) in different data domains
  • Act as an intermediary between domain, enterprise and solution architect and business users regarding data modelling
  • Design and implement data models, data integration, and ETL processes
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and availability of data across the organization and collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions
  • Lead initiatives to optimize and enhance data performance and capacity
  • Contribution to data landscape documentation with the further development of the data catalogue and different Rail Cargo departments and participate in Information and Data Governance (IDG) boards to define and enforce rules and standards and communicate data architecture decisions

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field and a minimum of 5-7 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or a related field
  • Proficiency in data modeling, database design, and data warehousing as well as in scaling business data-models with AI/Data-Science models
  • Demonstrable experience and skills in ETL/ELT orchestration with focus of compute optimisation and proficiency in defining and managing business objects
  • Knowledge of decentralized domain-driven data architecture frameworks (data mesh)
  • Experience with data governance frameworks and practices and understanding of data security and privacy regulations
  • Strong experience with SQL and NoSQL databases. Bonus: experience with graph databases
  • Expertise in data integration tools (e.g., Talend, Informatica, Apache Nifi) and ETL processes
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (especially Azure) and programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
  • Experience in process and project management and in the implementation/rollout of new systems or application changes
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, detail-oriented with a strong focus on data quality and accuracy
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities with an ability to lead and mentor team members
  • Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced, changing environment as well as experience working in agile teams (especially SAFe)
  • Fluent in English and German. Knowledge of Eastern European languages would be appreciated

  • A minimum salary of EUR 51.581,32 gross/year is provided for the position "Senior Specialist Data Architect" (according to the collective rail company agreement). Depending on qualifications and professional experience, the salary can be above the collective agreement level, starting at EUR 60,000.00 gross/year full time (38,5 hours).
