Compensation and Benefits Specialist (f/m/d)

The Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a Compensation and Benefits Specialist position in the Human Resources Office at its Vienna Campus.
As a Compensation and Benefits Specialist, you will be responsible for implementing job gradings, job evaluations, managing and optimizing compensation strategies in Austria and Hungary, employee benefits offerings, and also contributing to payroll administration. You will be a direct report to the HR Director and work closely with HR leadership and other departments to ensure that our compensation and payroll processes are accurate, efficient, and compliant with regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Compensation Management:
* Development and implementation of job grading and remuneration systems for Austria and Hungary
* Develop, implement, and monitor compensation programs to ensure competitiveness within the industry and alignment with the organization's goals and budget.
* Conduct market analysis and benchmarking to assess salary competitiveness.
* Recommend salary adjustments, pay structures, and incentive programs.
* Working on exciting projects with the opportunity to actively contribute and implement your own ideas
Benefits Administration:
* Manage employee benefits programs including insurance, meal supplement, retirement plans, and other fringe benefits.
* Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding benefits offerings.
Payroll Support:
* Support in managing payroll-related inquiries, addressing employee concerns related to salary, deductions, and benefits.
Compliance and Reporting:
* Ensure compensation and benefits practices comply with legal and regulatory requirements, also pay equity initiatives.
* Prepare and analyze reports on compensation, benefits, and payroll data for management.
Employee Support and Communication:
* Provide guidance to employees on compensation and benefits policies and programs.
Qualifications and Skills
* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
* Certification in Compensation (CCP) preferred.
* 3-5 years of experience in compensation, benefits, and payroll administration with Austrian experience required; international experience is a plus.
* Strong understanding of compensation structures, grading systems, benefits plans, and payroll processes.
* In-depth knowledge of Austrian labor laws and regulations, and open to learning Hungarian needs, too
* Experience with payroll software and HRIS systems (SAP Success Factors preferred) is a plus.
* Excellent in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Attention to detail and focus on data accuracy
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (English and German)
* Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
* Strong teamwork, collaboration, and project management skills.
* Creative, motivated, and proactive with a hands-on mentality.
* Eager to work in a motivated team and contribute also on the fun part.

We offer a competitive salary starting from gross 58,800 EUR/year. A higher salary is possible if warranted by the candidate's working experience.
